Tradfest Quiz 2013

Tradfest Table Quiz - April 19th 2013

Table Quiz Winners!

First Prizewinners at the TradFest Table Quiz - Siobhan, Jerome, Therese and Geoffrey. Well done!

Competition wasn’t shy at our table quiz on Friday with fellow fiddlers eyeing up one another’s teams suspiciously. It started off well enough with most tables happy to be performing reasonably proficiently. As Quizmaster Bob upped the ante however, the faint glisten of sweat could be seen accumulating on many brows across the room. By half time, one table who shall remain nameless,  felt required to open their second bottle of wine, after which, their cerebral struggle was replaced with a most alarming disregard for the academic seriousness of the event.

Eventually, and after much totting up,  the winners were identified– Jerome and Siobhan Maye with Geoffrey and Therese Dipple, followed closely by the small but beautifully formed team of Patricia Byrne, Irene Murray and Anne Halpin with Mary-Jean Timmins’ Coolnasmear team coming in next to finish a very credible third. For those who may be interested, the 2-bottle-of-wine table finished a Very Happy Last (hic!).  I should probably also mention (out of pure devilment) that the winning team from last year’s Fleadh Table Quiz was not ranked – sincere commiserations to Valerie, Ben, Pauline and Tom!  However, many congratulations to this year’s bright sparks; well done to our wonderful quiz-master Bob O’Brien and a huge thank you to Lawlor’s Hotel for sponsoring ALL our great prizes. Thanks also to all those who came along and took part. The aim of the night was to raise funds to support the Dungarvan TradFest during the June Bank Holiday Weekend. If the craic at the quiz is a foretaste of what’s to come at the TradFest, it was certainly all in a great cause!
